Celebrating Christmas Day

It was a rainy Christmas Day, but the lights looked better in the soft light. The aroma of coffee and a bit of Christmas music beckoned the start of our Christmas celebration.

Gifts are about sharing, and it was fun to have Eric and Irene there to share the experience.

Irene cooking

Then came the start of cooking. Irene wept as she made the stuffing, less from joy than from the onions.

Eric and Mike catching up.

Mike and Kathy left their family gathering in Leavenworth, and after three hours of treacherous driving in snow, stopped by for a visit on their way home. Eric and his Uncle Mike enjoyed the opportunity to catch up.

We then had another brief bout of gift giving, here Irene and Kathy.

The Christmas dinner.

Around four P.M. the family started to arrive, and after some hors d'ovres, the serious business of dinner began.

Yet more gift giving.

And, not content with two rounds of gift giving, yet another bout ensued. The memories of a family experience like this will far outlast the gifts, and we are indeed grateful for our family, those here, but, very much so for those who could not be with us.
